Lovely Shop | Smug

Smug is a cute little boutique situated in Islington, London. I first heard about the lovely boutique when it was featured in the amazing Spaces book by Frankie magazine. I really love the different bits and pieces that owner Lizzie Evans finds for her lovely shop and especially love the little shop front and building itself! How cute is that little window showing a glimpse of the area downstairs?! This lovely little shop is definitely high up there on my must see list!

Today I'm sharing some exciting news! After weeks and weeks of perfecting my designs, and making my dresses just what I want them to be, my online shop is now open!! Here are just a few of the pretty things that are available now!

My brand, A Mint Daydream, is a new label of handmade, vintage-inspired clothing and accessories. Each garment is made with love out of new and vintage fabrics and each design is made in small quantities to ensure that your garment will always be unique to you. My goal for A Mint Daydream is to create clothing that is beautiful, wearable, affordable and unique!

Today I'm sharing some of my favourite gift ideas for gents! Guys can be really hard to buy for sometimes, but there are actually a lot of really cool 'guy things' out there. I'm definitely hoping to buy the floral tie and the Smith Journal for Matt this year. Hope these gift ideas inspire you!

DIY Floral Crown

On the weekend I'm going to a fancy dress party where we all have to dress up as our favourite singer or band. I decided that it would be fun to go as Lana Del Rey based on this picture, and so wanted to include a floral crown as part of my outfit. Instead of just going out and buying one, I thought I'd have a go at making my own! Here is my process of making a floral crown incase you were wanting to make one for yourself!

What you need:

- A headband

- Stem wire

- Pretty flowers (I used some artificial flowers from a craft store)

To begin, wrap the stem wire around the entire headband.

Next, attach a piece of the stem wire to the flowers by threading, tying, or glueing. 

Attach the flowers on to the headband by twisting the stem wire into a sturdy knot. 

When done the knots look like a lovely vine from the back! 

It's as simple as that! This little project only took me about an hour to make and is the perfect summer accessory!

Christmas is well and truly on its way and to get into the mood a little bit I thought I would share a few christmas themed blogposts over the next few weeks! To start with I thought I would share a few bright and summery gift ideas. I'm secretly wishing for just about everything on this list for christmas! I have already bought myself the lipstick and am definitely going to buy a pair of Saltwater sandals for summer this year ha! Is there anything on this list you are also wishing for? November Moments

Started reading this amazing book again! Want to read it again before I see the movie.

Ate some yummy choc-chip biscuits before I started cutting out gluten from my diet. 

Sewed up a storm getting ready for the Elizabeth Handmade Market and went to market with my dresses for the very first time.

Had a go at DIY screen printing!

Started eating healthier and fell in love with making my own bircher muesli.

Went op-shopping and found some pretty floral vintage goods.

Started a Facebook Page to help people stay up to date with A Mint Daydream.

Floral Vintage Finds

I love it when op-shop finds just coordinate perfectly together! I had this happen yesterday when I quickly stopped by a few of my favourite op-shops and found a bunch of lovely floral things in matching colours! Vintage fabrics can often be really hard to find, so I was really happy to find the amount that I did! I'm planning on making them into pretty floral dresses soon. However, my favourite find from yesterday was a pretty pink Royal Doulton saucer! I have started a habit of buying at least one vintage saucer each time I op-shop to build up my collection and so had a quick last minute look before I left and found the pretty pink saucer sitting right on top of the pile of vintage plates. Have you founds any pretty vintage finds lately?    

Tacos In The Park

Spring is such a pretty time of year! The photos above were taken a couple of weeks ago when a couple of friends and I went and had some tacos from a little taco van for lunch in a beautiful, flowery park! It's so nice to be able to enjoy relaxing times like this now, something that hardly happens in winter when I'm super busy with uni! I'm definitely going to make the most of these moments while I can!

Next month Matt will be turning 21! To celebrate he is wanting to make the most out of the warm summer nights by having an outdoor feast, with our closest friends! He has asked me to help him plan and style it, which I'm pretty excited about as I think it will be a lot of fun!  I found these images on Pinterest and we think they are the perfect inspiration for the look and feel we want to achieve for his dinner party. I'm pretty sure he has planned it for two weeks time, so lets hope we can get it all organised and ready in that short amount of time!
